Vacances en Europe

polenta cake

Arrived back in England on Friday to find my 80-year old parents practicing their Italian, in readiness for our vacation in Sicily next week. Spent the weekend in Cambridge with my sister and her family; roller blading,  zip lining, Segway-ing around a local forest and baking cakes. My polenta, grapefruit, orange, honey and marscapone cake- which I copied off the TV show The Great British Bake Off, was supposed to be ‘sugar free’, but turned out to have a whole jar of honey in it!  I accidentally  roasted the little cake in a ferocious and uncontrollable Aga oven – a posh version of an old British farm stove. But somehow it was still very edible (probably thanks to all the sugar).  I feel blessed to have a family that always makes me feel so much at home.

The cake pic looks amazing. Have fun in Italy and hopefully we get pics of your adventures in Italy with your family.
