Graphic artist Nikki Kurt drew this storyboard of Laura and my’s spiritual adventure, during the New York Open Center’s recent Art of Dying conference. Click on the image to enlarge it and you will see it starts with Laura being surrounded by loved ones in the 8 months prior to her death, the vision I had of Laura transfigured into a Christ-like figure just before she was admitted to hospital (I knew then she would die, but it would be OK). Nikki also captured how the night Laura was passing a light rose upwards from the crown of her head and spirits like fireflies buzzed around her and how after she passed her face transformed over the next 5 hours. My favorite bits are at the bottom; all the cute animals Laura sends when I ask ‘Send me something lovely’.
