The Castor Oil Miracle

castor oilFor the first time since Xmas, mum is walking again.  Manuka honey soothed the pain of her badly ulcerated toes and light daily rubs of  castor oil sucked out the inflammation and healed her feet. Castor oil is sticky like glue and tastes vile, but it is super rich in Ricinoleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid, which is one of nature’s best anti-inflammatory agents. Rub it on sore joints or rashes before going to bed and see if you don’t feel better in the morning.

For my family, castor oil has been a miracle cure. It saved my mum’s life when she was a child.  She caught jaundice fishing in a contaminated stream and became so weak she couldn’t hold a cup to her lips. ‘Your dear grandma thought I was dying and threw herself on the bed weeping,’ mum recalls. Post World War 2 rationing meant grandma’s healing supplies such as fresh oranges, lemons and castor oil were impossible to find. But a neighbor who worked at the docks had ‘contacts’ and supplies arrived in the nick of time. Castor oil in orange juice turned my mother’s fate around.   When Laura and I were in Mexico (see the post Good News + Not Such Great News) a single dose of castor oil cleared my gut of amoebas.  And castor oil packs kept Laura’s tumor pain at bay for weeks. I use Heritage Store Organic Castor Oil. But a word of caution, it’s nigh on impossible to get out of clothes.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about castor oil. I rediscovered it last year as a hair growth treatment and now I use it all over.

    1. So glad to hear it. How do you cope with the stickiness?

Great question. I have seriously dry skin so it will absorb everything. I like the stickiness as it works well in my foundation. As moisturiser, two drops in coconut oil, warmed in my hand for my face is enough. For my scalp, it’s just a sliver all round. Then I massage everything in.

  2. Before reading about it on your blog, I’ve never heard of castor oil. Good to know about it know. Thanks to both of you for sharing your experiences.

My partner cured her plantar fasciitis by applying castor oil soaked flannel to the bottom of her foot for 20 minutes once a day for a couple of weeks. She placed saran wrap over the castor oil soaked flannel to contain the sticky and then placed a heating pad over that. Worked like a charm.

    1. Delighted to hear it Mary. Castor oil really is miraculous in the way it heals. Do you think it worked by soothing the inflammation, healing the damaged nerve or something else?

Good question. I had no idea so I looked around on the internet. Some seem to think that it works with the lymph system and helps pull toxins out of the body. Maybe it removes a buildup of whatever causes the condition?
