Trampoline

Tigger from ‘Winnie the Pooh’ The fitness prescription for all Gerson cancer patients is rest, rest, rest…and a little trampolining. No kidding. So we’ve just ordered a mini trampoline so Laura can bounce around the living room like Tigger. The idea is a little gentle rebounding (sort of walking in place on the trampoline) helps…

Weekend Warrior Schedule

We’re trialing a new version of the Weekend Warrior schedule for our kind-hearted volunteers. We’ve pruned the schedule way back so it’s now 3.5 hour shifts (instead of the mammoth 5 hour shifts of yore) and we’re asking for just one Weekend Warrior for each shift (instead of two people each morning and one person…

Tumors Disintegrating

Laura – This is going to sound disgusting but the whole purpose of the Gerson protocol is to get rid of the cancer and I just had a sign that it’s working.  In my underwear I found a blob of flesh. Now never in my 58 years have I had this experience and I’m going…

The Importance of Gruel

Gruel, the milky white juice that you get when you boil organic rolled oats in a lot of water for 15 minutes (and then strain off and discard the oats) seems to be the key to keeping Laura’s stomach happy.  When she drinks a little before and after every enema, her stomach is less upset,…

Shopping

If we had a car, this is what it would look like. Our weekly shopping feels as if we are catering to a ravenous pony (all the carrots, apples and oats) and a coffee addict. Here’s Laura’s weekly shop list (all organic) – 60 Granny Smith apples 50 gallons of distilled water 30 lbs of…

Snorty Pants

Laura – I used to be a very heavy snorer and for several years suffered from sleep apnea, which I just read can cause cancer. A 2012 study reported that people with sleep apnea have a 4.8 times higher incidence of cancer mortality. Apparently the oxygen deprivation causes angiogenesis (rapid new blood vessel growth), which feeds…

Blood Work Update

Today, Laura had her first phone check-up with Dr Cervantes at the Gerson Clinic in Mexico .  He reviewed her blood work and said her urine PH 8.5 is too alkaline (apparently this happens to most Gerson patients after 6 weeks), so he wants her to eat a little animal protein. Her ears perked up…

Tumor Necrosis

In The Gerson Therapy book (2001) one patient Kent Gardner describes his throat tumor when it starts to die off as ‘rotting in my throat..it produced a constant, horrible smell unlike anything I had ever experienced – even after working for 24 years as a taxidermist!’ Eventually it fell off and he swallowed it. Sounds disgusting…

My Dear Mum

It has been quite the year. First my very dear mum, who has enfolded me in love all her life, had a stroke in the fall of 2012, then my soul mate Laura was diagnosed with melanoma of the cervix in May 2013. And now this Thursday, September 5th, my mum is going to have…

Food Cravings

Laura- I’ve been driving Lucie bonkers talking about food and sniffing her meals that are off limits to me. Decided to take my food cravings of the day online.  I was reading recipes for a caramelized onion, mushroom and gruyere quiche. Somehow I want some sharp cheese and something creamy.

Hormone Replacement Therapy – a Cancer Trigger?

Three of the female patients at the Gerson Clinic (including Laura) have undergone hormone replacement therapy. Two took bio-identical compounded hormones and two used the Vivelle estradiol patch. Is there a link to cancer?  Dr Cervantes strongly thinks so. HRT may not be the only disease trigger, but it is likely one of the culprits…

Preparing to Climb the Everest of Alternative Health

We’re getting ready to go home to New York next Tuesday.  And I’ve started to wake up again in the middle of the night in a panic. How are we going to do this in New York?  Here in Tijuana at the Gerson Clinic we have a team of 5 doctors and 4 nurses who…

Melatonin

Laura is so buzzed from all the caffeine in the coffee enemas, she is finding it hard to fall asleep. The prescribed valerian tablets had no effect. Now Laura is on 6mg of Melatonin at bedtime. It not only helps with sleep, melatonin is supposed to help fight cancer and boost your immune system too….

Health Update

Good news! Laura’s Lactic Dehydrogenase (LDH) level just dropped significantly for the second time.  It is now 206. Normal range is below 176. Cancer patients tend to have elevated levels.  When Laura arrived at the clinic, her LDH was up at 271. Dr Cervantes says this latest blood work shows her body is detoxifying very…

Dreaming of Meat…

Blue cheese burger with bacon, sauteed mushrooms and onions, the whole roast pig at the local taco stand, razor clams, scallops and lobster. Laura has been dreaming of meat the past few days.  For once, the only thing she is not craving is sugar. ‘I’ve no interest in it at all,’ she says.
